A propos de moi

It is in the United States, in Californie that I discovered my passion for wine.  I started making wine in Dry Creek Valley, in Sonoma County,  I quickly understood the richness and complexity of the wine world.  What immediately attracted in the wine world was the diversity of approaches, techniques and opinions relating to the production of wine.  How each winemaker learns to works with nature, to exalt the expression of a place, by capturing a vineyard's soul in a bottle.

After working for several American wineries, I had the chance to represent a large French cooperage based on the West coast of the United States.  An equally fascinating environment, which allowed me to deepen my knowledge in oenology as well as in winemaking.

In 2003, I ended my American adventure and returned to France to settle in the Bordeaux region where I continued my career with the famous "Garagist" from Saint Emilion.  An incredible encounter which allowed me to continue learning and manage a project in China, with the goal of making the first great Chinese wine!

I then met another emblematic character of Bordeaux, innovative and pioneer who focuses on discovering new terroirs both in France and abroad. It is at this point that I realized the potential of organic & biodynamic wines as well as sulfite-free vinification.  Responsible for the US and Canada zones, I developed the presence of its brands and vineyards.

It is after these many years and many different experiences in the world of wine that Laurent Barbier Wines naturally came together.  My wish is to bring forward authentic wines, crafted with limited intervention, to preserve the expression of nature and of the terroir.  I am happy to represent passionate, gifted and respectful

Laurent Barbier
